Anders Celsius and Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit invented their temperature scales in the 1700s. I encounter both regularly.

You probably know 0 C is exactly 32 F, and 100 C is exactly 212 F. You might know that -40 C is -40 F, the one temperature where the two scales agree.
