Rusk's plans for Substack posts in December
A focus on information useful to people in my career niche
I have seen advice saying you should keep your plans to yourself and show results first, and I have seen advice saying you should announce your plans and let people follow your progress.
I am opting for the second path.
In December my idea is to serve up information of interest to people involved in energy efficiency project development and those providing consulting engineering services in planning energy use projects.
I will be looking for rules of thumb, case histories with payback periods quoted, prices of equipment, and the latest developments in solar, stationary batteries, EV charging needs, and HVAC efficiency projects. These are the tools I have used successfully.
I am tracking the developments in data center energy needs, and the new generation technologies of Small Nuclear Reactors, fission-sourced electricity in general, fusion-sourced electricity, deep-well geothermal-sourced electricity, and electricity prices. These are all things I think an energy-use consultant should know about.
My goal, which I think is doable, is serve as the eyes of consultants who find it difficult to find time for professional reading. My Subtack page should become a reference work over time.
I plan to pass along my comments on periodic reports from IEA, ERCOT, and other sources.
I write and deliver presentations and I have one in the works now. I plan to make a video recording and present it live. Stay tuned to see how it turns out.
I will put a few personal observations about non-energy things in Substack notes, too.
Please alert others who have interests similar to mine. Thanks in advance.
